Job SummaryThe IT Systems and Security Engineer position is a hands‑on cross functional role responsible for supporting and improving IT operations and security. It will oversee help desk while administering core systems and infrastructure systems and security posture. Manage identity access systems, cloud services, backups and foundational information security controls (Infosec). Balances operational stability with security best practices and works closely with internal teams and external vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant IT services globally.
Key Responsibilities Desktop Support- Serve as front line escalation for desktop issues
- Help manage ticket queues, priorities, and service levels
- Identify recurring issues and drive root‑cause remediation
- Maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, and standard operating procedures
- Serve as front line escalation for help desk issues
- Administer Active Directory (users, groups, GPOs, permissions)
- Manage Microsoft 365 services including Entra (Azure AD), Exchange Online, Teams, and Share Point
- Manage authentication, MFA, conditional access, and least privilege access models
- Support Windows Server infrastructure (patching, monitoring, basic configuration)
- Perform basic network administration (switches, firewalls, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Manage backup and recovery systems; perform regular test restores
- Coordinate with vendors/MSPs for advanced infrastructure or network needs
- Monitor system health and capacity to ensure availability and performance
- Implement and maintain endpoint security (EDR/XDR), email security, and basic SIEM monitoring
- Perform vulnerability scanning and track remediation efforts
- Support incident response activities, including documentation and lessons learned
- Assist with security awareness initiatives and policy enforcement
- Support audits and compliance efforts (NIST, GDPR, SOC/2 & ISO Controls)
- Maintain system diagrams, asset inventories, and security documentation
- Recommend and implement improvements to tooling, processes, and controls
- 2‑3 years of experience in systems administration, security and IT operations
- Hands‑on experience with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 administration
- Working knowledge of Windows Server environments
- Basic networking knowledge (firewalls, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPN)
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions
- Experience with endpoint security, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management and general information security principles (Infosec & Cyber Security)
- Familiarity with security frameworks (NIST, GDPR, SOC/SOC2 & ISO Controls)
- Exposure to cloud security and identity‑driven security models
