Position Overview
Burlington is seeking a self‑driven and highly motivated individual to join a dynamic team focused on data, software, and engineering. As an IT architect you will define and govern the enterprise‑wide data architecture, ensuring that data models, pipelines, metadata, and integrations are scalable and interoperable. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, develop detailed data architectural designs, and ensure the integration of systems and technologies.
Additionally, you will mentor junior architects, assist in their professional growth, and participate in the continuous improvement of data architectural practices.
This role is essential for the delivery of robust and scalable data architecture solutions for enterprise‑wide projects and platforms.
Lead the design and implementation of end‑to‑end data architecture- Design end‑to‑end data architecture to support analytics, AI, ML and operational systems
- Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models across business domains
- Establish data modeling standards, naming conventions, lineage rules, and metadata frameworks
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable
- Collaborate with Engineering and Architecture to define integration patterns and system interoperability
- Ensure alignment with governance, security, privacy, and regulatory requirements
- Advise AI and ML teams on semantic modeling, feature store design, and future knowledge graph adoption
- Create high‑level and low‑level data model diagrams and documentation
- Define system components, data flow, APIs, and service interactions
- Review and validate architecture and design artifacts with developers, testers, and security teams
- Provide guidance on architectural methods, tools, and standards
- Support data architecture related skill development through coaching, training, and shadowing
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to the evolution of data architecture standards and governance
- Identify and propose improvements to design methodologies and processes
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential adoption
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Licenses/Certification/Registration: TOGAF Certification preferred
Experience- 7+ years of experience in architecture
- Strong knowledge of architectural design techniques and tools
- Proficiency in system integration and technology alignment
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills
- Leads the creation and review of a systems capability strategy aligned with business requirements; develops roadmaps for enterprise data architecture and initiatives, ensuring stakeholder buy‑in
- Develops enterprise‑wide data architecture and processes to embed strategic change management within the organization
- Leads the development of data architectures in Enterprise Data and Analytics projects with domains focused but not limited to Merchandising, Supply Chain, Store Operations, Marketing & Strategy, Finance and Inventory Controls
- Provides data architecture reviews and guidance and governance on solution development and integration; evaluates requests for changes and deviations from specifications and recommends actions
- Supports the communication of strategic plans and related change initiatives to relevant stakeholders
- Contributes to the collection and analysis of information to support strategy development
- Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed data architecture design standards, patterns and methodology
- Manages and facilitates the communication and open flow of creative ideas between interested parties and the set‑up of innovation networks and communities
