Position Overview
A busy legal practice is seeking an experienced Collection & Foreclosure Paralegal to support attorneys in high-volume foreclosure and collections matters. This role requires a "plug-and-play" professional who can manage contested and uncontested foreclosures from Notice of Intent through sale with minimal supervision.
Candidates must have strong drafting experience, litigation exposure, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment. This is a substantive paralegal role - not a legal assistant position.
Key Responsibilities
Association Matters
Ensure compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and applicable state laws.
Communicate professionally with delinquent property owners via phone, email, and written correspondence.
Process payments and prepare balance due letters, payoff letters, and estoppels.
Review pre-collection notices, ledgers, and supporting documentation.
Draft and prepare:
Notice of Intent to Lien
Notice of Intent to Foreclose
Liens
Complaint packages
Foreclosure pleadings
Stipulations for Settlement and related Orders
Motions for Summary Judgment (including affidavits of indebtedness and costs)
Notices of Hearing
Final Judgments and Notices of Sale
Prepare hearing folders and correspondence to the court.
Provide direction to support staff as needed.
Bank & Litigation Matters
Pull Mortgage/Satisfaction searches.
Draft Answers and Affirmative Defenses.
Prepare Motions for Case Management Conference, Notice of Trial, and Motions to Reschedule Sale.
Draft and prepare all Notices of Hearing.
Bankruptcy Matters
Prepare Notice of Appearance and Request for Service.
Prepare Exhibits to Proof of Claim.
Draft Notice of Change in Post-Petition Amounts.
Required Skills & Abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong drafting and legal writing skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Ability to manage high-volume caseloads and strict deadlines.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Detail-oriented, analytical, and dependable.
Team-oriented with leadership capability.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma required;
Bachelor's Degree preferred.
Minimum 2+ years of relevant foreclosure/collections experience.
Must have hands-on experience handling contested and uncontested foreclosures from start to finish.
