This role serves as the central planning function connecting Account Management, Customer Success, Transportation, and Depot Operations. The Manager will translate demand forecasts into actionable supply, positioning, and transportation plans—balancing cost, service, and asset utilization to ensure 24/7 equipment availability and best-in-class customer service.

Key Responsibilities Demand Forecasting & Planning
  • Partner closely with Account Management and Customer Success teams to develop accurate short-, mid-, and long-term demand forecasts by customer, region, and equipment type
  • Incorporate pipeline activity, seasonality, and historical trends into a rolling forecast model
  • Continuously refine forecast accuracy and adjust plans based on real-time changes in demand
Inventory & Asset Visibility
  • Maintain end-to-end visibility of fleet status across customer sites, in-transit movements, and depot inventory
  • Establish and manage inventory targets by region and node (customer, depot, in-transit)
  • Identify surpluses, shortages, and imbalances and proactively initiate corrective actions
  • Track and report key metrics including utilization, idle inventory, and asset availability
Network & Capacity Planning
  • Develop and manage the master equipment plan across the network to ensure assets are positioned to meet forecasted demand
  • Define optimal stock levels and safety buffers by location to ensure service continuity
  • Plan depot capacity requirements and coordinate with operations on storage, throughput, and handling constraints
  • Support long-range planning including fleet growth, repositioning strategies, and capital allocation
Transportation Planning & Cost Optimization
  • Build proactive transportation plans to move equipment efficiently across depots and customer locations
  • Optimize routing, consolidation opportunities, and scheduling to minimize transportation costs while maintaining service levels
  • Partner with transportation providers and operations teams to execute planned moves and adjust dynamically as needed
  • Analyze freight spend and identify continuous improvement opportunities
Service Level & Availability Management
  • Ensure 24/7 equipment availability aligned with customer commitments and SLAs
  • Anticipate potential service risks (capacity constraints, equipment shortages, delays) and proactively mitigate
  • Establish contingency plans and rapid-response strategies for peak demand periods and operational disruptions
  • Support after-hours and weekend planning coverage models to ensure uninterrupted service
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Act as the central planning interface between Account Management, Operations, Transportation, and Depot teams
  • Translate commercial commitments into executable operational plans
  • Drive alignment on priorities, trade-offs, and resource allocation across functions
  • Support onboarding of new customers by building deployment and ramp-up plans
  • Leverage planning tools, ERP systems, and analytics to drive data-informed decision-making
  • Develop dashboards and reporting to monitor forecast accuracy, inventory health, service levels, and cost performance
  • Identify process gaps and implement planning best practices to improve scalability and efficiency
  • Lead root-cause analysis on service failures or planning variances and implement corrective action
Key Performance Metrics
  • Equipment availability / fulfillment rate
  • Forecast accuracy (volume and location)
  • Fleet utilization and idle time
  • Inventory balance across network
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or related field
  • 5–8+ years of experience in operations planning, supply chain, logistics, or asset-intensive environments
  • Strong understanding of inventory planning, demand forecasting, and transportation logistics
  • Experience working with distributed asset networks (depots, yards, or field equipment) preferred
  • Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and/or planning tools
  • Experience with ERP, TMS, or fleet management systems
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Key Attributes
  • Highly analytical and data-driven
  • Strong systems thinker with the ability to manage complexity across a distributed network
  • Proactive, forward-looking, and solution-oriented
  • Able to balance cost, service, and operational constraints
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, service-critical environment
