Material Coordinator
To support a major refinery turnaround at a client facility in Paulsboro, NJ. This position will play a critical role in the planning, receiving, organization, and distribution of turnaround materials to ensure maintenance and construction activities remain on schedule. The initial assignment is expected to support the September 2026 turnaround, with the potential for contract extension based on project needs and performance.
PositionSummary
The Material Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating, receiving, organizing, tracking, and issuing materials required for turnaround execution. This individual will work closely with maintenance, operations, contractors, procurement, and warehouse personnel to ensure critical materials are readily available when needed. This role requires a combination of warehouse coordination and field support, with approximately 50% of time spent in the field and 50% in the warehouse or office environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate material requirements for refinery turnaround activities.
- Order and track turnaround-related materials including:
- Gaskets
- Stud bolts
- Flange hardware
- Pipe components
- Mechanical maintenance materials
- Receive incoming materials and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Organize, stage, label, and store materials within warehouse and laydown areas.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and material tracking documentation.
- Coordinate material issuance to maintenance and contractor crews.
- Conduct field walks to verify material requirements and resolve shortages.
- Communicate with planners, schedulers, supervisors, and procurement teams regarding material status.
- Assist with identifying and expediting critical or long-lead materials.
- Support turnaround execution by ensuring materials are available when and where needed.
- Follow refinery safety procedures and warehouse best practices.
- 3+ years of experience in materials coordination, warehousing, maintenance support, or supply chain roles within an industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of refinery, petrochemical, chemical plant, pipeline, or heavy industrial operations.
- Understanding of:
- Flange types
- Piping systems
- Gaskets
- Stud bolts and fasteners
- Mechanical maintenance materials
- Ability to read and interpret basic equipment and material descriptions.
- Experience using inventory management systems, ERP systems, or warehouse tracking software.
