MAINTENANCE MECHANIC (HVAC) – FULL TIME – DAY
JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute – Brick, New Jersey
OverviewOur team members are the heart of what makes us better. We help our patients live better, healthier lives and help one another succeed. This role performs all maintenance functions to ensure safe, clean, comfortable and functioning patient rooms and interior/exterior environment. Prior HVAC experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities- Act as liaison for new construction projects, meeting and coordinating with vendors, assisting with technical designs and planned utility shutdowns.
- Maintain construction project turnover documents.
- Maintain all logs, shift reports, preventive maintenance schedules, work order closeouts and shift service reports, including online data entry.
- Keep patient environment of care compliant with checklist requirements and respond proactively to customer needs.
- Perform all interior environment of care maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs, ballasts, switches, outlets, plumbing fixtures, nurse call repairs, painting, floor tile changes and moving furniture.
- Keep preventive maintenance schedule on time and follow up on additional work required after inspections.
- Provide assistance during emergency situations, arriving promptly with correct equipment and ensuring safety.
- Write complete and accurate requisitions for parts and equipment; maintain correct on‑site inventory levels.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in accordance with OSHA standards and required PPE.
- Maintain Joint Commission and state documentation; respond to phone calls and messages as required.
- Ensure compliance with Joint Commission part 4 log book requirements.
- Thorough knowledge of supplies, equipment and ordering processes.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude.
- 3 to 5 years of maintenance experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Previous maintenance experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience in painting, plumbing, mechanical, heating and air‑conditioning.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to direct staff and keep projects on schedule.
- Black Seal Boiler License.
Minimum hourly rate: $24.98. This is an estimate for base pay; total rewards include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement and retirement benefits.
