Operations Associate – Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey

Location: South Hackensack, NJ

Overview

Support the efficient operation of the South Hackensack warehouse serving Goodwill New York / New Jersey’s fleet of retail stores, outlets, and donation centers. Ensure safe transport, handling, and storage of donated goods and supplies while meeting organizational revenue and process integrity goals. Act as a Brand Ambassador reflecting Goodwill NYNJ core values.

Essential Functions
  • Safely operate all power equipment.
  • Place incoming product containers from stores and donation centers into the offload zone.
  • Verify labeling of incoming materials and report discrepancies.
  • Stage equipment, products, and supplies for store requests accurately in grids.
  • Assist drivers with loading and unloading trucks, ensuring cargo accuracy.
  • Adhere to all Safety and Loss Prevention policies and procedures.
  • Report incidents of property loss to the Director of Logistics and VP of Asset Protection.
  • Maintain safe work conditions and report hazards and unsafe practices.
  • Ensure hazardous materials are stored per safety guidelines.
  • Confirm power equipment is functional before use and report issues.
  • Participate in required safety training, drills, and exercises.
  • Follow Goodwill ethics, policies, procedures, and mission.
  • Adhere to trash schedule for equipment turnaround.
  • Assist Ecommerce department with inventory movement.
  • Transfer books/media to gaylords for Salvage.
  • Complete shipment goods list for Salvage vendor and submit to Director of Logistics.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and remove debris promptly.
  • Ensure safe stacking of equipment and maintain clear walkways and dock doors.
  • Provide excellent customer service to customers, donors, and vendors.
  • Adhere to break schedule to support productivity and safety.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Warehouse experience preferred.
  • Forklift operating license preferred.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.
Required Skills
  • Flexible schedule (Mon‑Sat) availability.
  • Ability to execute multiple tasks in fast‑paced environment.
  • Willingness to train on forklift and baling machines.
