CNC Machinist / Prototype Engineer
Responsibilities- Review engineering drawings, instructions, blueprints and make suggestions for fixturing and hitting tolerances and other prototype and producibility objectives.
- Program, set‑up and operate 3, 4, and 5 axis milling centers.
- Program, set‑up and operate CNC turning centers with live tooling and C axis.
- Program, set‑up and operate CNC turning centers with live tooling, twin turret, twin spindle, with bar feeder.
- Hold tight tolerances.
- Inspect machined parts using calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, dial indicators and other basic inspection equipment.
- Other duties as assigned include assisting in inspection, precision assembly, or preparing time/material cost worksheets for new job estimates.
- Set‑up and breakdown of machinery and selection/procurement/assembly of tooling.
- 7+ years of CNC lathe/milling experience in programming and set‑up. (10+ years preferred).
- Experience with wire EDM preferred but not required.
- Programming using Mastercam (familiarity with alternate software such as Fusion 360/Gibbs Cam will be considered).
- Programming writing, editing, and troubleshooting G‑code and M‑code directly at the machine controller.
- Proficient with GD&T and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Ability to work from models or drawings.
- Ability to design fixtures utilizing 3D modeling software.
- Ability to diagnose and fix programming errors or mechanical issues on the fly.
- Ability to lift 30 lbs. or more.
- Ability to work independently.
- Adherence to company policies.
- MS 365 proficiency.
- Strong math skills for calculating tool paths, dimensions, and tolerances.
- High attention to details.
- Works well within a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be organized with good time management skills.
- Ability to multi‑task, work independently, and focus on details.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate or associate's degree in manufacturing/machining preferred.
- Proven experience as a CNC Machinist with minimum 7+ years of experience in programming and set‑up.
- Must be able to obtain Secret clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
