Our client is a U.S.
-based manufacturer of specialty process equipment—including sight flow indicators, valves, mixers, and other corrosion-resistant components—used in chemical, pharmaceutical, biotech, and industrial applications. They design, fabricate, and install both standard and custom engineered solutions from their Little Falls, New Jersey facility to meet high-purity and demanding process requirements.
$90,000 – $115,000 per year (based on experience). Overtime pay available.
Job SummaryThe Lead CNC Machinist/Programmer is responsible for full layout, fixturing, setup, and programming of multi-tasking CNC lathes and 3–5 axis milling machines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role supports both production schedules and rapid R&D prototyping while collaborating with production planners and design engineers to ensure quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.
Job Responsibilities- Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes and vertical milling machines (3–5 axis).
- Perform full layout and fixturing for components ranging from miniature to large.
- Write, edit, and troubleshoot manual G-code and M-code programs.
- Machine materials including stainless steel (316, 304, 303), carbon steel (1018, 1045, A105, A106, A36), and plastics (primarily Teflon).
- Inspect finished parts to ensure tight tolerances and quality standards are met.
- Select proper tooling and fabricate precision tools and fixturing as needed.
- Collaborate with design engineers to improve manufacturability of components.
- Optimize programming, tooling, and fixturing to improve shop efficiency and reduce costs.
- Provide labor and material estimates from drawings, blueprints, and electronic files.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot unplanned issues.
- Research and implement new machining technologies to maintain competitive advantage.
- Minimum 3–5 years of CNC machining experience.
- Strong knowledge of CNC lathes and vertical milling machines.
- Experience programming complex 4+ axis equipment and multi-tasking machines.
- Mastercam experience preferred.
- Experience with Haas and Fanuc controls preferred.
- Understanding of GD&T and machining tight tolerances.
- Familiar with DNC systems.
- Prototrak experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Trade School or relevant certification preferred).
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Reliable commute to Little Falls, NJ (in-person role).
