Position Overview

The Estimator is responsible for accurately scoping, pricing, and preparing estimates for projects including large-format printing, fabrication, installations, and multi-location activations. This role requires a strong understanding of materials, production methods, labor, logistics, and risk associated with one-off and short-run builds.

The Estimator works closely with Sales, Project Management, Production, and Installation teams to ensure estimates are competitive, profitable, and aligned with operational realities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed, line-item estimates for projects including print, fabrication, finishing, logistics, and installation
  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, RFPs, and client briefs to define scope and pricing
  • Calculate material quantities, waste factors, labor hours, equipment usage, and subcontracted services
  • Apply appropriate margins, contingencies, and risk buffers based on project complexity
  • Prepare alternate pricing options when required (materials, finishes, value engineering)
  • Collaborate with Sales to clarify scope, assumptions, and client expectations
  • Work with Production, Fabrication, and Install teams to validate feasibility, labor estimates, and timelines
  • Identify potential production or installation risks early and flag them for the team
  • Participate in internal project handoff meetings as needed
  • Clearly document assumptions, exclusions, and contingencies in all estimates
  • Support continuous improvement of estimating workflows and standards
  • Request and evaluate vendor quotes for materials, fabrication, freight, rigging, and installation
Required Skills & Experience
  • 3–7+ years experience in estimating within wide-format printing, fabrication, exhibits, signage, or experiential environments
  • Strong knowledge of substrates, finishing methods, fabrication materials, and installation techniques
  • Understanding of shop labor rates, equipment usage, and production workflows
  • Familiarity with experiential build challenges (custom fabrication, tight timelines, site conditions)
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously
  • Strong math, cost modeling, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance competitiveness with profitability
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving scopes
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain pricing logic and risk considerations to Sales and internal teams
  • Confident pushing back on unrealistic timelines or under-scoped requests
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets
  • Adobe Acrobat (reviewing drawings, specs)
  • Union install or venue-based project knowledge
  • Installation experience or site exposure
Benefits Offered
  • Medical Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Pre-tax Flexible Spending Account and Dependent Care Account
