Description
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Proper operation of transfer controls, PLC systems, pneumatic, and electrical equipment for the offloading of raw materials.
- Unload bulk raw materials and intermediates from bulk to storage or packages.
- Sampling of incoming raw materials and water testing raw material for batches.
- Performs analysis as Viscosity, NCO%, solid content and Moisture test for polyols as needed.
- Reads batch and operating instructions associated for the preparation of raw material.
- Differentiation of raw material through product family for usage of the proper portable pump or flexible hose.
- Selects correct portable equipment for different product line and raw material families.
- Loads raw material in the reactors through bulk storage or package containers.
- Prepares re-work and partials containers in ovens for upcoming batches.
- Loads re-work and partials package in the reactors.
- Uses the proper checklist to track raw material charging.
- Judges and performs adjustments to the batch as needed.
- Proper preparation of package material (labels, tight the bung and cap, clean drums and totes, seals of drums and totes) and store it in the proper building.
- Re-packages finished goods for customers shipments.
- Recognizes and documents abnormal operating conditions with proper response.
- Maintains plant cleanliness to Coim's housekeeping standards.
- Performs physical Cycle Count.
- Maintains daily logs and records as instructed.
- Assists in training newer operators.
- Participates in all safety related activities and meetings.
- Participates on investigative teams and site group initiatives (e.g. PHAs, PSSR, etc).
- Responsible of maintaining the boiler log and managing the boiler operator schedule (optional through the black seal boiler certification)
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ SKILLSET:
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Additional (not required) value adding skills/experience:
- Experience in chemical manufacturing environment.
- Experience as Batch-maker, Blender, or Control Room Operator
- Experience with ERP software (SAP, Navision, etc.)
- Forklift experience
- Black Seal Boiler License
- Yard Jockey truck experience
- Some experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of plant equipment, operations, and processes in assigned operating unit.
- Understanding of basic chemistry, for products made in assigned production areas.
- Ability to read basic parameters, including: temperature, pressure and mixer speed.
