Maintenance Mechanic
Immediately hiring a Maintenance Mechanic in Somerdale, NJ. We're hiring Sheet Metal Mechanic/Machinist for a sheet metal manufacturer in Somerdale, NJ. Shift/Pay:
Monday-Friday no weekends! 1st shift (7:00am-3:30pm) @ $35.00 based on experience.
Job Description
The Sheet Metal Mechanic/Machinist fabricates, assembles, and machines precision metal components for a wide range of industrial applications. This hands-on role involves sheet metal fabrication, manual and CNC machining, blueprint interpretation, and quality control. You will work with various metalworking equipment to produce high-quality parts, troubleshoot issues, and ensure projects meet specifications and safety standards while collaborating with a team and working independently as needed.
Responsibilities
- Measure, mark, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal according to detailed specifications and project requirements.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install metal components, ductwork, panels, and structural parts for industrial applications.
- Set up and operate machining equipment, including lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNC machines, to produce precision parts.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and work orders to determine materials, dimensions, and processes required.
- Perform welding, riveting, soldering, or bolting to securely join metal components and assemblies.
- Program, monitor, and adjust CNC machines to ensure accurate production and adherence to design specifications.
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify quality standards.
- Troubleshoot equipment, machining, or fabrication issues and perform routine maintenance on tools and machines as needed.
- Repair or modify existing metal components and systems to improve performance or meet updated specifications.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all safety protocols and procedures at all times.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication techniques and machining processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience operating both CNC and manual machining equipment, including lathes, mills, drills, and presses.
- Proficiency in welding, cutting, and metal assembly methods.
- Mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and finishes.
- Familiarity with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for fabrication and equipment issues.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
- Competence in blueprint reading for fabrication and machining tasks.
- Experience with manual machining operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Preferred experience in sheet metal fabrication within a manufacturing, fabrication shop, or industrial setting.
- Comfort working with a variety of metalworking equipment and tools in a production environment.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility, fabrication shop, or job site where you work directly with metalworking machinery and equipment. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Somerdale, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
