Crane Aerospace & Electronics is hiring an Electronics Technician in West Caldwell, NJ. The role involves working in a household of high‑technology aerospace and defense systems, including engines, satellites, medical implants, and unmanned aerial systems.
Job SummaryThe Technician II Electronics works under close supervision to test, troubleshoot, repair and modify production of electronic or mechanical products, parts, equipment, and systems. Responsibilities include applying electronics theory, electrical circuitry, and testing principles to real‑world components.
Essential Functions- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering instructions to perform testing on electronic and mechanical units in accordance with specifications.
- Execute automated and manual testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, ICT, flying probe, vibration, burn‑in, and thermal‑cycle systems; maintain logs and documentation of test results.
- Calibrate, adjust, and troubleshoot units using electrical and mechanical measurements and calculations (voltage, resistance, current, impedance, flow, mechanical dimensions).
- Create detailed non‑conformance reports, document failures, conduct initial root‑cause investigations, and collaborate with engineering for resolution.
- Support CBS initiatives (5S, KPIs, Standard Work) and follow all OSHA and company safety practices while remaining flexible to support overtime needs.
- Test higher‑complexity units under supervision and perform additional tasks assigned by management.
- Support customer visits.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Perform minimal work under a microscope or soldering.
- Experience: 1‑3 years in a related field or equivalent educational experience.
- Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting methods, circuitry or mechanical characteristics; familiarity with product flow through manufacturing or repair; working knowledge of computer systems.
- Skills: Good oral and written expression in English for clear communication.
- Abilities: Learn new test software and equipment; identify abnormal conditions; manual and finger dexterity; precise coordinated movements; multi‑system data entry.
- Education/Certification: AA degree in Electronic or Mechanical Technology, or equivalent knowledge through experience or other recognized educational institution.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution.
- Practical application of engineering electronics, science, and technology to design and production of goods and services.
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Manufacturing environment with safety equipment (eye safety glasses, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps, other required PPE). Possible exposure to loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes. Occasional travel to support customers. Standing 20%. Sitting 80%. Lifting up to 35 lbs. Pushing up to 100 lbs. Use of microscope and computer is frequent. Workspace is a clean bench.

Salary range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour. Salary determined by experience, comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may qualify for performance‑based bonus programs.
