Microparticle Immunoassay Technician
The Microparticle Immunoassay Technician plays a key role in the timely production of laboratory kits in compliance with Good Manufacturing Procedures and FDA requirements. This position focuses on supporting Athena laboratory operations initially, with progression to supporting Flash production, while ensuring the quality, consistency, and safety of all products and processes.
Responsibilities- Ensure the availability of all raw materials required for production, including chemicals, antigens, serums, and plasmas.
- Follow laboratory procedures strictly and accurately in accordance with FDA and Good Manufacturing Practices requirements.
- Complete all production and quality documentation accurately and keep records up to date.
- Participate in cycle counts and review kit data to verify accuracy, quality, and consistency.
- Assist Technical Services in troubleshooting production or kit-related issues.
- Support sample and kit testing in response to customer complaints or specific customer requirements.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient laboratory and production operations.
- Perform sample preparation and pipetting for immunoassay and related laboratory procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments such as automated plate washers, readers, and pH meters.
- Apply good laboratory practices to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
- Use basic mathematical skills to perform calculations, including the preparation and creation of dilutions.
- Read, understand, and follow written protocols, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Provide laboratory support for Athena operations initially and progressively support Flash production as training advances.
- Academic biology laboratory experience with hands-on work in a lab environment.
- Experience in sample preparation and pipetting for routine laboratory procedures.
- Familiarity with glassware, labware, and standard laboratory equipment.
- Basic working knowledge of Biology, including core laboratory concepts and techniques.
- Basic working knowledge of Microbiology, Immunology, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including preparation and creation of dilutions.
- Ability to operate and maintain machines such as automated plate washers, plate readers, and pH meters.
- Ability to read and follow written directions, protocols, and standard operating procedures accurately.
- Good laboratory practices to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.
- Basic computer skills to support documentation, data entry, and equipment interfaces.
- Science background with required laboratory experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Biology is preferred.
- Science-focused education with laboratory coursework and practical lab experience.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and laboratory work.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and other departments.
- Willingness to support both Athena laboratory operations and Flash production as needed.
- Flexibility to adjust start times based on production needs and training schedules.
This role is based in a laboratory and production environment focused on microparticle immunoassay kit manufacturing. The standard schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., for a 35-hour workweek. During initial training, start times may shift to around 8:30 a.m. to align with training needs, and flexibility in start time is expected based on production and training requirements.
The position involves regular use of laboratory equipment, including glassware, labware, automated plate washers, plate readers, and pH meters, as well as routine pipetting and sample preparation. The environment emphasizes good laboratory practices, adherence to FDA and Good Manufacturing Procedures, and maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient workspace.
