Inventory Specialist

Position Profile

The Inventory Specialist is primarily responsible for performing tasks involved in issuing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in response to Inventory Requests and Work Order pick lists.

Follows established procedures and verbal instructions.

Assists in cycle counting and is responsible to bring any discrepancies or issues regarding accuracy of inventory balances and locations to the attention of the Inventory Management Supervisor. Strives to maintain high internal customer satisfaction with efficient and complete service and support.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent GED
  • Basic math skills and the ability to use a calculator
  • Familiar with work orders and shop paperwork
  • Effective verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization
  • Computer literate, with MS Office/PC experience
Essential or Primary /

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive, track, and distribute materials and supplies,
  • Prepare variety of routine administrative paperwork
  • Read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
  • Enter materials from internal and external locations into stock and enter into computerized records system.
  • Assign primary stock locations as necessary.
  • Pull/pick materials (stocked items) for work orders.
  • Safe operation and use of Hem Saw, Chop Saw, Belt Sander, and various cutting and hand tools
  • Safe operation and use of fork lift, overhead crane, pallet jack, and lift table
  • Maintain accurate counts and inventory records
  • Distribute and perform material handling duties
Additional Duties / Responsibilities
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values
  • Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/shipping & receiving environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are 8 hours, Monday through Friday. Overtime and weekend work are required, as job duties demand.
  • No travel is expected for this position.
