Position: Associate Director of Advancement Publications and Print Communications
Location: Lawrenceville

Summary

The Associate Director of Advancement Publications and Print Communications manages the development, production, and execution of print communications that support institutional advancement goals, including annual giving, major gifts, stewardship, alumni engagement, parent engagement, and campaign initiatives.

This role serves as a project manager, writer/editor, and creative collaborator helping ensure all print materials reflect the institution’s brand, voice, and strategic priorities while delivering a high‑quality donor and constituent experience.

The Associate Director partners closely with the Director of Advancement Communications and Donor Relations, and other team and A&D colleagues. The role also works very closely with the School's centralized Communications/Marketing team, and when needed, external vendors, designers, and other campus partners to produce compelling, mission‑driven print pieces that inspire philanthropy and strengthen relationships with constituents.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Print Materials Project Management
  • Manage annual print communications project calendars as integrated into overall communications calendar and as aligned with Advancement priorities and fundraising goals.
  • Oversee production of print projects from concept through delivery—including appropriate partners for relevant materials.
  • Establish and deliver on timelines, workflows, approvals, budgets, and production schedules for all print communications.
  • Serve as partner and liaison to A&D department and project leads to serve the needs and priorities of each area through print materials
  • Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration among Advancement, central Communications, and when needed, directly with designers, printers, and mail houses.
  • Prioritize projects and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
  • Partner with the Associate Director of Digital Communications to ensure seamless campaign delivery across vehicles.
  • Content Development

  • Event invitations
  • Leadership giving communications
  • Parent and alumni communications
  • Recognition materials
  • Partner with annual fund, alumni engagement, stewardship and frontline fundraisers to tailor print materials for specific donor audiences.
  • Write and edit compelling donor‑focused copy for print materials.
  • Select and curate photos and design assets as needed for print projects.
  • Maintain consistent institutional voice, tone, and messaging and brand standards, as set forth by the Central Communications office of the School.
  • Translate complex institutional priorities into accessible and engaging communications.
  • Review materials for clarity, accuracy, and grammar, working with central Communications when appropriate to ensure brand consistency.
  • Review layouts, proofs, photography, typography, and production specifications.
  • Maintain high standards for design quality and constituent experience.
  • Collaborate with School Communication's office designer, and as needed, manage additional relationships with external designers, photographers, and other internal partners and other vendors.
  • Monitor production budgets and ensure quality control throughout the production process.
  • Stewardship & Donor Experience
  • Support donor recognition and stewardship initiatives through thoughtful print communications
  • Help elevate the quality and personalization of donor‑facing print materials.
  • Partner with Advancement Services and Donor Relations colleagues on printed reports and recognition materials.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, or related field required.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in print communications, advancement communications, marketing, publishing, or related field.
  • Familiarity with fundraising and advancement communications preferred.
  • An understanding and reverence for the mission of The Lawrenceville School and the wider interests of independent secondary education, specifically boarding schools.
