New Jersey Resources (NJR) is seeking a Communications Specialist to collaborate with business partners across the organization on internal and external communications that support business goals and strengthen the NJR brand, with an emphasis on customer and employee communications, enterprise projects, and utility programs. The Communications Specialist develops customer and employee communications across multiple channels, supports utility and enterprise initiatives, and serves as the communications lead for outreach and educational events.

This role creates strategic messaging, communications materials and supporting collateral to advance NJR’s corporate brand and narrative through special projects, reports, and other key communications initiatives.

Major Responsibilities
  • Drafts, edits and delivers high-quality content for press releases, newsletters, websites, employee intranet, social media channels, customer and employee print and digital communications, videos, marketing and advertising, presentations and other communications materials, ensuring continuity of messaging across all channels
  • Collaborates with the team on monthly utility customer newsletter and bill inserts, using customer communication best practices, targeted messaging, and audience segmentation strategies to enhance engagement and deliver timely, accurate and compliant communications in partnership with utility business units.
  • Partners with graphic design to develop visually compelling communications materials, collateral and advertising content to enhance company brand.
  • Measures and evaluates communication effectiveness through post-project assessments, data analytics, and customer sentiment analysis, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Supports website content management by developing and maintaining company website, serving as content owner, and reviewing, editing, and advising on content submitted by business units.
  • Provides strategic communications support for Human Resources and Employee Business Resource Groups.
  • Develops engaging communications and content that support special projects, energy-efficiency and sustainability initiatives and other strategic business priorities.
  • Develops communications for New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) outreach and educational events, including messaging, collateral and promotional materials. Provides event day support and serves as the Corporate Communications lead for special events.
  • Supports social media operations to ensure content consistency and appropriate cross-channel content delivery.
  • Provides basic photography support at company events, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or other related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related corporate communications experience.
  • Strong writing, editing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects and competing deadlines.
  • Highly detail-orientated, with ability to gather information quickly to develop company communications materials while responding to internal and external requests.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and photography a plus.

Other Details

Compensation:
Expected base pay range for this role will be $77,000- $104,000.
Base pay is based on several factors including, experience, skills, and knowledge.
