What You'll Be Doing...

The Verizon Business Communications team is seeking a seasoned communications strategist to shape and execute overarching communication strategies across our business portfolio. You will serve as a trusted counselor to senior executives and lead high-impact integrated campaigns that elevate our brand reputation and drive commercial momentum. As an experienced and highly creative strategist, you constantly innovate and seek out the best practices, latest trends, best technologies and most efficient processes.

Whether guiding team members, managing agency partners, or directing cross-functional working groups, you will bring agility, message governance, and strategic vision to complex business priorities.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Planning & Campaign Architecture:
Developing and executing comprehensive, integrated communication strategies across Verizon Business, translating commercial goals into multi-channel campaigns that align with the overall communications approach.
  • Earned Media Strategy & Reputation Execution:
Driving proactive media relations strategies, creating stories and turning enterprise milestones into national credibility while cultivating key relationships across business, tech, and trade media.
  • Executive Communications & Leadership Counsel:
Acting as a strategic communications partner to senior leaders, providing executive positioning, messaging discipline, briefing materials, and tailored coaching.
  • Strategic Writing & Message Governance:
Building and maintaining disciplined narrative architecture, including message maps, proof points, Q&As, and thought leadership to ensure consistent messaging across internal, external, and partner channels.
  • Measurement, Insights & Operations:
Establishing measurement frameworks and utilize data-driven insights to evaluate campaign impact, optimize channel performance, and drive operational excellence.
  • Crisis & Issues Management:
Leading cross-functional messaging strategies for high-stakes business matters, protecting company reputation in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Team & Matrix Leadership:
Leading communications initiatives through direct management, agency oversight, or matrixed cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of trust, care, and strategic excellence.
What We're Looking For...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
  • Experience in external corporate communications, executive communications, or agency settings.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a strategic communications partner to senior executives within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Proven track record of developing end-to-end campaign architecture and leading multi-channel messaging governance.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence, whether through direct team management or cross-functional matrix leadership.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Experience across B2B technology and/or telecommunications sectors.
  • Deep network of established relationships with national business, tech, and industry journalists.
  • Experience building, mentoring, or directing agency partners and multidisciplinary project teams.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every "even better" qualification listed above.
