The Family & Special Needs Coordinator plays a key role in building a thriving, Christ-centered ministry for kids and families at Liquid Church by leading volunteer teams, coordinating systems, and partnering with parents. This full-time position serves under the Campus Pastor as part of the Campus Team, with dotted line oversight from the Family Pastor. The schedule includes Sunday services and a minimum of two in-person office days, which include Tuesday and Thursday meetings at our central office in Parsippany, totaling 40 hours.
MinistryStrategy & Execution
- Lead the implementation of children’s ministry experiences by ensuring volunteer teams, spaces, and systems are fully prepared each weekend.
- Own the weekly “Sunday readiness” plan: setup/teardown coordination, room readiness, supplies, curriculum distribution, check-in flow, and communication.
- Ensure volunteers are trained, scheduled, supported, and aligned to deliver programming with excellence and consistency.
- Monitor weekend execution, identify gaps, and drive continuous improvement through feedback loops with coaches and key volunteers.
- Serve as the primary campus contact for special needs inclusion, ensuring families feel supported and welcomed.
- Oversee the Buddy Program: connect with new families, coordinate buddy matches, train buddies, and provide ongoing coaching and resources.
- Champion a culture where every child is welcomed, known, and valued—equipping volunteers to serve with empathy, clarity, and confidence.
- Build, maintain, and lead a strong volunteer team committed to loving and discipling kids.
- Develop and lead Team Coaches and key volunteers to expand leadership capacity and reduce dependency on staff.
- Recruit
- Identify, engage, and onboard new volunteers through intentional conversations, interest forms, and training processes. - Retain:
Foster a vibrant volunteer community by maintaining regular communication through email, text, huddles, and team meetings; providing spiritual care, encouragement, and support; meeting with Team Coaches; maintaining and communicating the schedule; and offering ongoing training and development. - Reward
- Celebrate and appreciate volunteers regularly to affirm their contribution and sustain engagement.
- Serve as a primary campus point of contact for parents—especially new families—helping them navigate check-in, classrooms, safety policies, and next steps.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with parents to build trust, set expectations, and support family discipleship at home.
- Support families through key milestones (baptisms, child dedications, and other faith steps). When additional needs arise, provide guidance and connect families to pastoral care and other resources.
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required. - Experience - 2 years of serving at Liquid Family preferred;
Minimum 1 year of service at Liquid or another church required, special needs experience preferred. - Leadership
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to the dynamic needs of ministry. - Relational Ability: A warm, approachable leader with a passion for serving families and developing others.
- Organization:
Strong detail orientation and problem-solving skills; able to stay cool under pressure and keep many moving pieces on track. - Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Tech Savvy:
Comfortable learning and adopting new technology and tools. - Schedule:
Available Sundays and for midweek meetings, especially Tuesdays and Thursdays. - Availability:
