Overview

Registered Nurses (RN) at Recovery Centers of America render professional nursing care to patients with behavioral healthcare needs and perform total patient care assigned, including administering prescribed medications. The RN works with clinical and case management staff to coordinate care and assist with treatment plans. Maintains patients' medical records on nursing observations. May assist physician during treatment and examination of patient.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
  • Plan and provide nursing care for patients.
  • Make nursing diagnoses of the medical status of patients and recommend treatment options.
  • Consult with medical, clinical, and other behavioral healthcare staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
  • Administer and note reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
  • Arrange further medical attention when necessary.
  • Assist the client in understanding the nature of mental health disorders, the disease of addiction and the need for treatment.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients.
  • Test vital signs and manage treatment of pain; document all patient information on medical charts and follow physician orders.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records of treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping.
  • Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and their loved ones by responding to requests or making appropriate referrals in a timely manner.
  • Uphold personal and professional ethics and values, respect culture, beliefs, and abilities of individuals, and understand duties and responsibilities.
  • Communicate well verbally and in writing; create accurate and punctual reports; deliver presentations; share information and ideas; demonstrate good listening skills.
  • Identify problems, involve others in seeking solutions, analyze and search for best solutions; respond quickly to new challenges; use effective approaches for action; work collaboratively with other health professionals and leaders from other disciplines.
Qualifications

STATE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable):

Knowledge, Skills And Education
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, or the equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Active registered nursing license in the state where care is delivered.
  • Current BLS certification preferred (or must complete during orientation period).
  • 2 years of experience in behavioral healthcare, addiction services or five years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of health care, detoxification process, addiction, co-occurring disorders and DSM criteria and terminology preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly; edit work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively; listen and seek clarification; demonstrate group presentation skills; participate in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; facility proprietary systems knowledge preferred.
  • CARN certification preferred.
  • Competency in performing CLIA waived testing.
  • Proficiency in screening/assessing for suicide ideation and aggression.
  • Ability to safely administer medications.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level is usually moderate. Registered nurses are expected to remain prepared for working long hours, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts, closely with patients.

Physical Demands
  • Heavy lifting 50 lbs. and over (intermittently); carrying up to 45 lbs. (intermittently); repeated bending; pulling up to 45 lbs. (intermittently); pushing up to 45 (intermittently); stooping (intermittently); squatting (intermittently); kneeling (occasionally).
  • Use of both arms and hands; use of fingers; overhead work (intermittently); prolonged walking and standing (up to 4 hours/day); sitting (up to 2 hours/day).
  • Distant vision to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other; near vision (13-16 inches); color distinction; hearing sufficient to understand spoken words from a distance of 8 feet.
  • Emotional and mental stability; ability to perform essential functions and respond in emergencies; ability to administer at least 2 consecutive minutes of quality CPR.
Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day; some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Pay

$39.75 - $47.56
