Description
- Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate. Obtains current patient information including but not limited to: vital signs, height, weight, specimens, allergies, reason for visit, chief complaint, medical history updates, and medication changes, and records the same on patient chart. Properly identifies and prepares the patient and explains procedures. Maintains patient privacy during testing.
- Obtains blood specimens from peripheral sites as needed and in accordance with OSHA and universal precautions. Performs routine EKG procedures in accordance with the American Heart Association standards and department policies. Obtains new patient records and previous test results, x‑rays, scans, etc. Performs treatment & wound care. Maintains a therapeutic relationship with patients/family/significant others while providing care in a high‑stress environment with multiple priorities.
Administers oral, topical, and injectable medications according to patient safety standards. - Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested. Assists with delegated patient education activities including but not limited to distributing education literature.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
License/Certification RequirementsCurrent registration with the New Jersey State Board of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
