Job Summary
The Nursing Management Consultant provides nurse management consultative guidance, direction, and support on an ad hoc basis regarding RN management clinical operations. This role may act as a temporary substitute or backup for Nurse Leaders, offering per diem leadership support and expertise.
Responsibilities- Provides consultative and ad hoc leadership support in day‑to‑day operations of the assigned unit.
- Assists nurse leaders in developing short‑ and long‑term goals aligned with organizational goals.
- Provides education and training to new graduate nurses as needed.
- Supports nurse leaders in managing time, resources, and multiple priorities with appropriate delegation.
- Develops and implements unit‑ or house‑wide projects to promote patient satisfaction within a patient‑centered care framework.
- Notifies all appropriate individuals of critical events per regulatory and organizational policies.
- Ensures all team members are trained in emergency preparedness and disaster response policies.
- Develops unit‑specific response plans and participates in preparedness drills.
- Reviews and acts on ad hoc variance analysis reports including nursing hours per patient day, cost per unit of service, FTEs and other variables.
- Implements, monitors, evaluates and recommends action plans to correct variances; prepares and submits reports to CNE/COO on an ad hoc basis.
- Advocates and supports established high standards for quality and service.
- Shares knowledge and expertise to achieve desired results.
- Develops and implements unit‑oriented projects as assigned.
- Collaborates with nurse leaders and other departments to implement strategies for PDCA/performance improvement projects.
- Other duties and projects as assigned by nurse leadership.
- Adheres to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- NJ State Professional Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN).
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive nurse management experience.
- Master's degree in nursing (preferred).
Starting rate of pay: $70.22 hourly. Compensation is benchmarked against market data, experience, education, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Additional incentives, bonuses, commissions, and shift differentials may apply.
