Role Description
The Advanced Practice Nurse at Alina Lodge is a full-time, on-site role located in Blairstown, NJ, focused on providing comprehensive medical and psychiatric care to individuals undergoing addiction treatment. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting health assessments, taking medical histories, and performing physical exams for new and existing students. The Advanced Practice Nurse will diagnose and manage acute and chronic health conditions, prescribe and monitor medications, and collaborate closely with physicians, counselors, and multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Additional duties include monitoring detoxification and withdrawal management, educating students and families on health, wellness, and recovery, participating in case conferences and clinical meetings, and maintaining accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The role also involves contributing to quality improvement initiatives and supporting a safe, therapeutic environment aligned with Alina Lodge’s mission and policies.
- Current Advanced Practice Nurse (APN/NP) license in the state of New Jersey; national board certification (e.g., Family, Adult-Gerontology, Psychiatric-Mental Health) preferred.
- Demonstrated clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and management of medical and behavioral health conditions, particularly related to substance use and co-occurring disorders.
- Experience in addiction treatment, mental health, or related behavioral health settings; familiarity with detoxification protocols and long-term recovery care is highly beneficial.
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities for working within multidisciplinary teams and engaging effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation, use of electronic health records, and adherence to regulatory, ethical, and safety standards.
- Ability to provide trauma-informed, person-centered care; commitment to maintaining professional boundaries and supporting a structured treatment environment.
- Comfort with on-site work in a residential or campus-based setting, including flexibility to respond to urgent clinical needs.
- Master’s degree in nursing and completion of an accredited nurse practitioner program; relevant continuing education in addiction medicine or psychiatry is an advantage.
