Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN LVN - Dialysis

Overview

Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy. Functions as part of the hemodialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

• Provide direct patient care and perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed.
• Administer and monitor treatments in accordance with the current treatment plan or supervisor directives.
• Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters on flow sheets and record related information in the patient record.
• Report significant information, changes in patient condition, or equipment problems to the supervisor.
• Assist in developing and following the teaching plan to educate patients and families regarding end‑stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications.
• Assist with emergency operational procedures, including administering intravenous medication, performing CPR measures, and responding to emergency situations related to dialysis treatment.
• Safely operate all dialysis equipment and perform minor troubleshooting.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dialysis treatment area and address all blood spills immediately.
• Operate emergency equipment according to standard operating procedures.

• Drive FMCNA culture through values and customer service standards, ensuring outstanding service to all customers.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships through timely communication and resolution of customer service issues.
• Participate in staff meetings, patient care plan meetings, and in‑service classes; act as a resource for other staff.
• Coordinate care plans with physicians, dietitians, and social workers.

• Desk and computer work, patient interaction, and facility and staff collaboration.
• Heavy lifting and moving patients, frequent prolonged standing, bending, and occasional lifting of equipment up to 200 lbs. or chemical water solutions up to 30 lbs. with assistance.
• Travel between assigned facilities and community locations; occasional regional or corporate meetings.
• Work environment characteristic of a health care facility; exposure to infectious materials possible.

Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN) with current state licensure.

• One year of medical‑surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Hemodialysis experience preferred but not required.
• ICU experience preferred but not required.
• Successful completion of a hemodialysis training course and CPR certification.
• Completion of the Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire or soon thereafter.
• Ability to provide coverage at area facilities during short staffing or as required.
• Must meet Ishihara’s Color Blindness test condition of employment.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
