Two (2) Years The Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) provides direct patient care and clinical support services to incarcerated individuals at the Mercer County Correction Center. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, and Physicians, the CNA assists with daily healthcare activities, patient monitoring, and clinical documentation to ensure safe, compliant, and compassionate inmate healthcare delivery. This role requires the ability to work onsite in a secure correctional environment while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to correctional healthcare standards.

• Assist inmates with activities of daily living (ADLs) including hygiene, mobility, and basic care needs
• Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration)
• Observe and report changes in inmate health status to nursing staff
• Assist with intake screenings and routine health checks
• Prepare inmates for medical examinations and procedures

• Support nursing staff during sick call, medication pass, and treatment activities
• Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and basic clinical procedures as directed
• Escort inmates to and from medical units as required
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of medical areas and equipment

• Accurately document patient observations and care activities
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and correctional regulations
• Follow all safety, security, and infection control protocols
• Participate in required training and compliance activities

• Work collaboratively with correctional officers, nurses, and healthcare providers
• Adhere to all facility security procedures and professional conduct standards
• Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow established protocols

• High School Diploma or GED (Required)
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Certification – State of New Jersey (Required)

• Experience providing direct patient care in healthcare settings
• Experience in correctional, institutional, long-term care, or similar environments preferred

• Direct patient care & ADL assistance
• Vital signs monitoring and reporting
• Infection control and safety awareness
• Correctional healthcare support
• Strong observation and communication skills
• Accurate documentation
• Ability to work effectively in a secure environment
• Compassion, professionalism, and reliability

• Certified CNA licensed in New Jersey
• Experience or strong interest in correctional or institutional healthcare
• Comfortable working onsite within a correctional facility
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused
• Able to follow clinical direction and security protocols
