PHYSICAL, MENTAL DEMANDS

• The work associated with this position requires standing and walking throughout the workday with occasional sitting for prolonged periods of time. Occasional reaching, stooping, bending and kneeling are also required.
• Light-to-moderate lifting to position patients for procedures or transport. Pushes and pulls on patients’ stretchers during transport. Occasionally lifts medical equipment, exerting light-to-moderate physical effort (e.g. move items weighing up to 25 pounds).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administers or supervises anesthesia for all types of procedures where qualifications allow. Selects, obtains and/or administers the anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, and fluids necessary to manage the anesthetic, to maintain the patient’s physiologic homeostasis, and to correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia or surgery. Is responsible for the complete medical care of the patient's perioperative care – intra & postop.
• To provide general, regional, local and monitored anesthesia care services, including induction, maintenance and emergence and to provide professional observation and resuscitative care.
• Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to the neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric population. This requires the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify age-specific patient needs, and to provide the care needed.
