Provide essential support to veterinarians in caring for and treating animals. Greet clients and patients warmly and professionally. Collect and record patient history, vitals and pertinent information. Assist during examinations and surgeries. Monitor and care for pets during postoperative recovery. Collect samples for laboratory testing. Administer medications and vaccines as prescribed. Monitor the health and well-being of animal patients. Educate pet owners on proper animal care procedures.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records. Assist with inventory management. Prepare animals and equipment for medical procedures. Perform diagnostic imaging (such as radiographs or ultrasounds.) Ensure that the clinical environment is clean, organized and safe. Demonstrate strong communication skills, attention to detail and compassion in all duties. Participate in ongoing continuing education (CE) opportunities to stay informed about advancements in the veterinary medicine and client services.
