Join Our Team! We are currently seeking Emergency Doctors to join our team at Animal Emergency & Referral Associates (AERA) in West Caldwell, New Jersey!
About UsFounded as an after‑hours emergency clinic in 1977, AERA is now a 45,000‑square‑foot, 24/7 state‑of‑the‑art hospital with a strong Emergency Service team and specialists in Anesthesiology, Internal Medicine, Radiation Oncology, and Surgery. Take a video tour of our facility.
Our tenured support staff includes a team of dedicated ICU nurses, laboratory staff, and pharmacy technicians, some of whom have been with AERA for decades.
The RoleOur Emergency Doctors manage inpatient cases, triage incoming patients, and handle lacerations, basic wounds, urinary obstructions and enucleations. Our doctors also have the option to cut and can train in surgery as well as endoscopic foreign body removal, if they’re interested! We are considering both experienced Emergency Clinicians as well as new graduates.
Mentorship Available for New GradsThe ER Immerse Program will prepare veterinarians for a sustainable and satisfying career in emergency medicine. Built from the ground up to be different than traditional rotating internship programs, the ERi program has been developed around a curriculum of core competencies essential for an emergency veterinarian. In addition to providing training around clinical knowledge and skills, the program also includes a focus on client and team member communication, professional skills, and life/work integration.
The ER Immerse program utilizes a hybrid training approach incorporating simulation‑based didactic components into authentic training experiences with live patients. The curriculum is designed using an evidence‑based strategy identifying competencies and skills deemed essential for a successful career as an emergency clinician. The schedule for the 6–9 month mentorship program will be four days per week.
Program Duration/Commitment- 6–9 month training program – Start date is flexible
- 1 year commitment as an ER clinician at AERA following the completion of the mentorship training program
- Three 12‑hour shifts per week, rotating shifts (four shifts per week for new graduates in the mentorship program)
- Shifts are: 8 AM‑8 PM, 12 PM‑12 AM, and 8 PM‑8 AM
- Includes an average of two weekends per month and four holidays per year
