Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
AHS's Cardiovascular Imaging Outpatient Departments currently has an opening for a Nuclear Technologist.
Selected candidate will perform Cardiac Nuclear Stress studies in accordance with established departmental protocols and policies. This position works within hours and a department that is based in off‑site imaging centers in and around facilities that are affiliated with Morristown Medical Center/Atlantic Health System as well as other off‑site offices that are associated with Physician Aligned practices.
- Mixes stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses, under direction of physician.
- Calibrates equipment.
- Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
- Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
- Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
- Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
- HS Diploma or equivalent experience.
- Graduate of AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine required.
- Employment history of working in an office‑based setting is preferred
- Specific Certification related to position or Associates Degree/Technical Degree in related field. All licenses and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a Technician at the state(s) and/or national level. - Top expert and functional mentor; possesses the most advanced knowledge of the function/family and department. Makes decisions regarding daily priorities for a work group; provides guidance to and/or assists staff on non‑routine or escalated issues. Collaborates with Management in the development and validation of methods, techniques, and analytical approach. Serves as a model/mentor for team Members on technical skills.
