Quality Manager The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory standards. As a key member of the leadership team, this individual drives quality strategy, operational excellence, risk reduction, and continuous improvement while fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, and customer focus.
The Quality Manager oversees quality engineering, inspection, auditing, corrective actions, supplier quality, and compliance activities to ensure product conformity, reduce the cost of poor quality, and support sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities Lead and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, customer, and regulatory requirements. Develop and execute site quality strategies aligned with business objectives, customer satisfaction, operational performance, and continuous improvement goals. Lead, mentor, and develop Quality Engineers, Technicians, and Inspectors, establishing performance expectations and supporting professional growth. Drive a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
Establish and oversee corrective and preventive action (CAPA), risk management, and root cause analysis processes to prevent recurrence and mitigate quality risks. Manage nonconforming material processes, including MRB activities, dispositions, and customer communications as required. Plan and lead internal, customer, supplier, and third-party audits, ensuring timely closure of findings and ongoing compliance. Ensure effective deployment and control of quality documentation, including SOPs, PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC, work instructions, and revision-controlled records.
Monitor and report key quality metrics, including scrap, rework, escapes, audit performance, corrective action effectiveness, and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Serve as the primary quality representative for customers and strategic suppliers, supporting issue resolution, supplier development, New Product Introduction (NPI), and design transfer activities. Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to drive process improvements, reduce risk, and enhance overall business performance.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years of progressive quality experience in a manufacturing or regulated industry environment, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, medical device, or other highly regulated industries preferred. Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, quality systems, auditing, CAPA, risk management, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plans, and quality improvement methodologies.
Proven experience managing customer quality performance, including complaints, corrective actions, scorecards, escapes, and executive-level customer interactions. Demonstrated success leading quality organizations and influencing cross-functional teams across Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain. Experience driving supplier quality improvement, audit programs, risk mitigation, and supplier development initiatives. Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage employees, customers, suppliers, and executive leadership.
Ability to balance business objectives with quality and regulatory compliance requirements while making sound, data-driven decisions.
