Seasonal Marine Field Worker

Position Overview

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Seasonal Marine Field Worker for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, Haskin Shellfish Research Laboratory, Cape Shore, in Green Creek, New Jersey. The position is temporary and hourly.

• Performs microalgal culture.
• Assists in spawning of bivalves and rearing of larvae and post-set juveniles.
• Maintains hatchery larval systems, downweller tanks and nursery upweller raceway.
• Assists with sampling and genetic analyses associated with grant‑funded research.

Minimum

Education and Experience:

High school/vocational school education or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific/technical discipline or current college student with coursework and training in biological sciences.

• Ability to lift 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in a variety of outdoor conditions.

Salary: $15.92 - $17.00 per hour.
