Part-Time, Coastal Conservation Internship

Job Description

Raritan Valley Community College is currently accepting applications for a part‑time Coastal Conservation Internship. The internship, performed in partnership with the Pinelands Preservation Alliance, focuses on protecting sensitive beach habitats for rare species, enhancing dune development, installing and maintaining protective beach fencing, collecting monitoring data, surveying rare beach plants, conducting outreach and interpretive activities at state parks, developing internet and outreach materials, and supporting research on global patterns of beach use and conservation.

• Must be a current RVCC student in good academic standing or a recent graduate.
• Interest and/or experience in ecology/conservation field work.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors under varying weather conditions for 6–8 hours per day.
• Must have personal transportation and be willing to drive 1–2.5 hours to field sites across the New Jersey shoreline.
• Plant and/or animal identification skills.
• Interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
