Position Summary

Under direction, plans, directs, supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of security officers involved in patrol, investigations, public relations, and related services and activities; serves as a primary shift leader on an assigned shift and/or oversees the Field Training Officer Program; coordinates and conducts all satellite facility required Hazard rounds, Fire Drills, Emergency Preparedness Drills; serves as the primary training officer for his/her respective shift;

oversees and participates in all work activities; assumes responsibility for assigned special programs, projects, or department-wide functions or activities; coordinates activities with other departments and state, county, and local emergency response agencies; and performs a variety of administrative and technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Primary Position Responsibilities
  • 1. Supervise the activities of multiple officers on assigned shifts. Assign, coordinate work activities/assignments. Call roll at the beginning of shift, inspect Security Officers for appearance, readiness and preparation for duty and briefs officers on critical issues.
  • 2. Coordinate staff response to Emergencies. Respond to all security and emergency situations as dispatched or assigned and initiate appropriate actions during fire alarm activations, panic alarm activations, workplace violence situations, medical emergencies, and all other emergency situations.
  • 3. Complete and submit all required security reports and daily activity reports. As the Senior Lead ensures that all logs, reports and paperwork are submitted daily by the officers at the end of their shift. Review such reports as necessary to ensure compliance with departmental procedures; instruct officers to make corrections as needed.
  • 4. Interpret, convey, and ensure implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and methods; ensure that personnel have clear guidelines of authority and responsibility. Ensure that staff is tasked appropriately for proactive prevention, intervention and enforcement activities. Utilize information gained from both internal and external sources to develop and implement proactive strategies to reduce crime and enhance safety in and around the main campus.
  • 5. Responsible for Security Department Training for Restraints, Field Officer Candidates, and New Officer Departmental Training. Identify training deficiencies and provide or coordinate staff training; work with officers to correct deficiencies. Responsible for Healthcare System staff training for Active Shooter, Infant Abduction, Fire Response, and Emergency Preparedness. Completes Annual officer evaluations in conjunction with the Administrative Director of Safety and Security.
  • 6. Participate in the selection of Security Officers through the Interview Board. The Senior Lead Officer must see to it that new security officers are given every opportunity to learn the patrol function in a positive training environment. The Senior Lead Officer will ensure that all Field Training officers on his/her shift are teaching department policy and proper procedures to the new officers and that all training and corrective actions for new officers is documented in the field training program software.
  • 7. Attend and participate in ED/Behavioral Health Collaboration Meeting, Restraint Meeting, Workplace Violence Prevention Meeting, and the Environment of Care. Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of safety and security. Coordinate and conduct all satellite facilities required Hazard rounds, Fire Drills, Emergency Preparedness Drills.
  • 8. Control patient, visitor, staff, and vendor entry to the facility utilizing the appropriate visitor and vendor software.
Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred: Associate’s Degree, Certificate and/or Advanced Specialized or Technical Training. Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice.
