A well-established trucking fleet is hiring a Heavy-Duty Diesel Mechanic in Kenilworth, NJ to keep chassis and heavy-load equipment road-ready for port operations. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of diesel repair experience and strong diagnostic skills. Apply now to join a fast-moving team.
Duties & Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot engine, transmission, and electrical issues using diagnostic software and testing equipment across multiple makes and models.
Perform preventative maintenance, including routine inspections, oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks, to minimize breakdowns and keep equipment in service.
Inspect power units and chassis to support Federal Motor Carrier and DOT compliance standards.
Service and repair air brake systems, steering and suspension, cooling systems, fuel systems, drive trains, and related components.
Maintain and repair private chassis assets, heavy-load equipment, and gensets used for reefer container operations.
Accurately document labor hours, parts used, and completed repairs in the company’s maintenance management system.
Requirements
Required:
3+ years of experience as a Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician.
Strong knowledge of diesel engine components, electrical systems, diagnostics, and hydraulic braking.
Must have a complete set of standard hand tools required for the trade.
Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
CDL Class A required, along with a Tanker or Hazmat endorsement.
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
Preferred:
Fleet or dealership experience.#FJ1 Compensation:$28.00 - $45.00/hour based on experience and certifications.

Day shift, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Overtime available and paid after 40 hours
