Pay: $34.00 - $46.00/hour - Based on experience
What You’ll DoAs a Lead Technician, you will function as an experienced technician who is able to perform diagnosis and repairs of most vehicle components without supervision. You will:
- Perform unsupervised work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
- Perform major component repairs and/or overhauls.
- Diagnoses vehicle problems based on customer complaints and inspection.
- Diagnose cause of most malfunctions and performs repairs.
- Performs electrical and/or air conditioning system repairs.
- Communicate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
- Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
- Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
- Communicate with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
- Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
- Documents all required information for successful completion of a warranty claim.
- Must be able to meet specified times consistently.
- Must be able to consistently maintain greater than 80% productivity and greater than 95% efficiency
- Road tests vehicles or refer to test technician.
- Assist other technicians in major repairs.
- Participate in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
- Keep abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
- Inspects and test drives newly delivered vehicles for obvious damage and missing major components and drivability functions.
- Installs optional equipment specified by the customer or dealer and reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
- Work in a team environment.
- Ensure that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notify service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
- Keeps shop area neat and clean including emptying trashcans, when needed.
- Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
- Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner and reports any safety issues immediately to management.
- Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment
Education & Experience:
Vocational/technical school graduate preferred. Five years related experience required. Must have experience in engine and driveline troubleshooting. Must have experience in electrical repair and air conditioning systems. Must have component overhaul experience and/or specialty (A/C or electrical) experience. Must be able to obtain passing grade during Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and/or vendor training.
