Diesel Mechanic

Shift: Hiring for all shifts - 1st (800am), 2nd (400pm), and 3rd Shift (1000pm).

Pay Range

A Mechanic Ranking: $42-46/hour.

B Mechanic Ranking: $34-42/hour.

C Mechanic Ranking: $27-34/hour.

Signing Bonus

A Mechanic Ranking: $15,000.00 (Paid in $3,000 installments at 30, 90, 180, 270, and 365 days).

B Mechanic Ranking: $10,000.00 (Paid in $2,000 installments at 30, 90, 180, 270, and 365 days).

C Mechanic Ranking: $4,000.00 (Paid in two $2,000 installments at 90 and 180 days).

Role Overview

As a Diesel Mechanic at Silvi Materials, you will work on our fleet of mixers, heavy equipment, and class‑A trailers, ensuring all diesel components run efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and professional working environment.
  • Diagnose and perform preventative maintenance for heavy‑duty diesel vehicles and equipment.
  • Remove, repair, rebuild from start to finish, and replace assemblies such as diesel engines, transmissions, axles, cylinder heads, oil pumps, fan belts, generators, starters, gauges, and other parts.
  • Perform electrical work, including wiring systems and starter rebuilding.
  • Repair and adjust electrical sensors, EGR valves, and computerized electrical systems per automotive and Federal Clean Air Standards.
  • Diagnose computerized fuel management, ignition systems, and engine timing, and perform necessary repairs. Perform tire changes.
  • Weld broken assemblies, subassemblies, and other parts as required.
  • Use, store, record, safeguard, and properly use equipment, materials, parts, and other supplies.
  • Maintain shop and work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Prepare reports and records of time spent, materials, parts used, and work completed.
  • Learn to utilize various diagnostic equipment.
  • Respond to and handle road service calls using a company service vehicle.
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of fleet/transportation repair and maintenance experience with a medium to large company.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance and parts manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and related instructions.
  • Experience with heavy‑duty vehicle repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations such as OSHA and DOT.
  • Capability to perform maintenance and repairs in a garage and/or field per specifications.
  • Sense of urgency and ownership.
  • Excellent follow‑up skills to complete assignments through to completion.
  • Analytical, problem‑solving, and customer service skills.
  • Valid CDL (Class

    A) license preferable.
  • Valid PA Inspection License A+ preferable.
  • Valid Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification.
  • Certification under DOT guidelines for brake adjustment and repair.
Physical Demands
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand for long periods.
  • Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist, or crawl.
  • Hear sounds and recognize differences.
  • Use fingers to grasp, move, and assemble small objects.
  • Hold arm and hand in one position or steady while moving arm.
  • See details of objects less than a few feet away.
  • Determine direction of sound.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects.
  • Use core muscles to support body for long periods.
  • Move two or more limbs together while remaining in place.
