Scope of Responsibilities- Coordinate, monitor, and control the safe and efficient utilization of Company equipment and assigned personnel. Calling out additional employees when needed using the on‑call list.
- Locate, access, operate, and repair Company facilities such as, but not limited to, mains, hydrants, blow‑offs, services, curb stops, shut‑off valves, and plumbing fixtures.
- Investigate and diagnose hydraulic variations that may adversely impact system operations and customer service and initiate corrective action.
- Perform distribution system tests including, but not limited to, fire flows, customer service lines, and pressure losses.
- Complete house‑to‑house connections at customers’ accounts to maintain service.
- Locate Company facilities, and in accordance with the Underground Facility Program, mark‑out Company facilities and initiate requests to mark‑out other utilities’ facilities.
- Raise to grade Company facilities such as, but not limited to, meter hoods, tiles, and covers and curb, valve boxes, sewer openings and cleanouts. Operate and repair Company facilities such as, but not limited to, fire hydrants and distribution system valves.
- Complete the installation of facilities including, but not limited to, water services, main extensions, fire hydrants, valves, blow‑offs and wastewater assets.
- Collect and evaluate water samples, as directed, in accord with established water quality practices.
- Transport materials to and from Company facilities and/or job sites.
- Prepare Company facilities for adverse weather conditions.
- Restore service to frozen Company facilities, as required.
- Capture coordinates and locate assets using mobile devices.
- Record pertinent data and maintain accurate records. Utilization of field computing devices (SAP, Clic, Map Capcall, W1V, Trimble, GIS Viewer, etc.).
- Report conditions in the field that may adversely impact customer service or public safety, as well as conditions that may result in potential damage to Company facilities.
- Conduct water loss audits, including, but not limited to, pipe and fixture inspections and usage patterns at customers’ accounts.
- Inspect and test cross‑connection control prevention devices and backflow prevention devices.
- Obtain and record meter readings to ensure accurate billing of customers’ accounts within established time frames.
- Respond to and investigate sewer backups, properly using a sewer vactor truck to clear and sewer cameras to investigate.
- Respond to inquiries accurately and professionally and, when necessary, involve the appropriate individuals to resolve customer and Company‑related issues to achieve the highest level of customer service in all areas of responsibility.
- May be assigned to perform responsibilities either individually or in conjunction with other employees. May also be assigned to direct other employees provided the work assignment does not involve excavation that requires shoring.
- Responsible for upholding all Company policies and procedures related to safety and act in a professional manner to reduce the exposure of hazards to crew members, customers, contractors, and themselves.
- Maintain a safe and compliant job site at all times. Satisfy all State, OSHA and traffic standards and report and document any unsafe acts.
- Possess geographical knowledge of the Company’s service area and water distribution and sewer collection systems as well as understanding of gradients, piping networks, basic fluid and flow principles, and basic electrical theory and related safety procedures.
- Capable of interpreting diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and maps and possess a working knowledge of cross‑connection control and reduced‑pressure zone backflow prev enters.
- Must have a working knowledge of Company policies, procedures, and safety practices applicable to the area of responsibility as well as federal regulations regarding confined spaces, trenching and shoring, and Competent Person.
