About the Role:

The Mechanic I is a highly self-motivated, customer-centric team player responsible for maintaining material handling equipment and ensuring proper working order and safe operating conditions within the warehouse. You possess basic carpentry, mechanical, electrical, and janitorial experience to assist in day-to-day operations. This role is essential for minimizing downtime by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting various systems, and responding to emergency repairs.

What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities)
Your primary duties will focus on maintenance, repair, and compliance:
* Troubleshooting & Repair:
Troubleshoot, repair, and diagnose basic and complex issues on conveyor material handling systems, sorters, unloaders, dock doors, dock levelers, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and fire protection systems. Perform emergency repairs, including diagnosing problems and dispatching appropriate vendors as necessary.
* Preventative Maintenance (PMs):
Perform PMs on all assigned assets (PIVs, sorters, conveyors, unloaders, dock doors, electrical panels, etc.) according to manufacturer standards and established schedules. Maintain and ensure the proper working order of Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs).
* Facilities & Projects:
Conduct general building maintenance, including basic carpentry (painting, drywall), plumbing, and cleaning. Responsible for facilities projects as directed by the Supervisor.
* Equipment Operation:
Work regularly on aerial platform lifts, boom/snorkel lifts, and powered industrial trucks (reach, order picker, stand up, pallet runners, stock chaser, etc.).
* Compliance & Documentation:
Adhere strictly to all OSHA, state, and local compliance laws, including proper Lockout/Tagout procedures. Complete work orders, records, logs, and other written or computer-based documents (e.g., CMMS software) accurately and timely.
What You'll Need (Minimum Requirements)
* Experience &
Certifications:
Minimum 1 year experience in industrial maintenance or relevant certification(s) is required.
Experience with basic carpentry, painting, drywall, cleaning, and basic maintenance is required.
* Technical Proficiency:
Proficient using hand & power tools and electrical testing equipment, including PLC systems. Proficient using computer systems and CMMS software is required.
* Equipment Knowledge (Preferred):
Experienced safely using warehouse equipment such as order pickers, pallet jacks, forklifts, and aerial lifts.
* Work Environment:
Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment that can be noisy and have low lighting levels. Must be flexible on working hours and willing to work scheduled & unscheduled overtime.
* Physical Capability:
Must be comfortable repeatedly lifting up to 75 lbs unassisted. Ability to regularly bend, lift, stretch, crawl, and reach. Ability to access all areas of the building by climbing ladders and gangways safely and without limitation.
* Safety:
Will be required to wear applicable personal protective equipment, including arc flash protection and safety shoes. Must be a safety conscious, motivated, and detail oriented self-starter.
* Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent is a plus.
