Position SummaryUnder general supervision, the Tractor Operator operates a diesel or gasoline powered tractor and associated equipment to perform grounds maintenance operations, including cutting grass in landscaped and non-landscaped areas of commercial and public grounds. This job class requires practical skill and knowledge of grounds keeping practices, equipment, and safe work practices.

Minimum Qualifications- One or more years of experience operating tractors or similar heavy equipment.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions and instructions.
- Ability to follow established safety rules applicable to tractor operators, to maintain a safe environment, and to adapt and respond to potentially hazardous conditions and use the appropriate PPE.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities, and to build effective working relationships with coworkers and customers.
- Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving and common sense skills.

Certificates or Licenses Required- Valid Driver's License
- Maneuvering over uneven ground
- Maneuvering in, around, and on equipment
- Climbing and working from high platforms
- Reaching, pushing, and pulling gears to operate levers, and steering wheel
- Bending, stooping, and reaching
- Lifting or moving tools, equipment and/or materials up to 50 pounds
Work is performed at a customer’s location on job sites in a construction environment with various tools, and mechanical, electrical and construction equipment. Transporting to work locations within the site. At times, may be required to work in confined spaces. Employees may be exposed to hazardous equipment, toxic substances, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
Travel between facilities and work locations may be required.
