Fiber Technician

We are currently hiring Fiber Optic/Copper cabling Technician's with 3+ years of experience installing, terminating and/or splicing Cat 6 copper, and fiber in a commercial environment primarily outside plant. Candidates are encouraged to apply ASAP as we have an immediate need in the Queens area.

Job Description:

• Install single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables in commercial construction and outside plant environments
• Fusion splicing, verification testing, troubleshooting and fiber optic cable repair
• Installing support structures (ladder racks, j-hooks, cable trays, etc.)
• Perform fiber tests with EXFO OTDR's, light source and meters
• Terminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosures
• Terminate cat 6 cable modules
• Responsible for day to day operations and maintenance of company equipment
• Document all work on a daily basis

Qualifications:

• BICSI Installer 1 (Copper/Fiber) with OSP experience is a must.
• Previous experience performing job duties in commercial construction environment is required.
• Proficient in the operation of all related fiber/copper tools and equipment
• Fusion splicing, terminating experience is a plus
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints, schematics and line diagrams
• Your own basic telecom tools and PPE (safety gear), etc.
• Must consent to a pre-employment background and drug screen
• Must possess a valid OSHA 30 or obtain before start.
• Must have daily transportation to NJ/NY
• Must have the ability to pass comprehensive background checks to obtain and maintain a SWAC (Secure Worker Access Consortium) card for access to high-security/restricted sites.
• TWIC – Transportation Worker Identification Credential - beneficial
