The HVAC Technician performs commercial HVAC maintenance, service, and repair work across a variety of commercial, industrial, and telecommunications facilities. You will troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and repair or upgrade systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

Responsibilities

• Perform commercial HVAC maintenance, service, and repair work on a wide range of systems in commercial, industrial, and telecommunications facilities
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with rooftop units, split systems, package units, heat pumps, and related HVAC equipment
• Inspect, repair, and replace HVAC components including motors, contractors, belts, filters, thermostats, and controls
• Conduct preventative maintenance to ensure efficient system performance, extend equipment life, and reduce downtime
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and service documentation to plan and execute work accurately
• Perform startup, testing, and commissioning of HVAC equipment to verify proper operation and performance
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, industry standards, and safety requirements
• Maintain job site organization, cleanliness, and safety, including proper handling of tools, materials, and equipment
• Participate in on-call or emergency service work as needed to support critical systems and customer operations
• Work independently on commercial and industrial job sites while maintaining professional interactions with customers and stakeholders
• Support both preventative maintenance and emergency repair tasks in a service-focused environment

Work Environment

This role is field-based and involves working on commercial and industrial job sites, including office buildings, retail facilities, industrial locations, telecommunications sites, and other commercial properties. You will work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions while servicing rooftop units, split systems, package units, heat pumps, and related equipment. The environment is highly service-focused, with a mix of preventative maintenance and emergency repair responsibilities.

You will frequently use tools and equipment related to HVAC installation, pipe fitting, sheet metal work, brazing, and electrical wiring. The position requires working independently in the field, traveling between sites as needed, and participating in on-call or emergency service work to support critical customer operations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Great Meadows, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $45.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
