Overview
Total Fire Protection is expanding rapidly. The Service Technician – Fire Alarm Division will directly oversee all duties and tasks of this functional discipline. The Service Technician – Fire Alarm Division will report directly to the Service Manager – Fire Alarm Division and oversee the discipline and daily duties associated with this role.

- Interpret servicing and maintenance requirements for Fire Alarm systems.
- Identify and restore system trouble conditions, adhering to code requirements, manufacturer specifications, and customer service standards.
- Conduct site surveys and system inspections; identify deficiencies and write service tickets as required.
- Understand fire alarm and related detection and notification systems.
- Familiar with NFPA 72 (including recent updates) and the intent of the code; familiarity with NYC and Long Island local building codes and fire alarm code requirements.
- Have general knowledge of fire systems including fire detection, mass notification, fire dynamics, smoke management, egress codes, and egress systems; possess general knowledge of fire alarm system installations for varied applications.
- Communicate technical issues effectively to supervisors, project engineers, contractors, field technicians, and nontechnical stakeholders; write reports to facilitate internal and external communication.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in Fire Alarm Service-related work.
- Five (5) or more years of proven experience with Fire Alarm Systems (conventional and addressable).
- Knowledge of interior and exterior wiring and repair of electrical equipment and circuits.
- Five (5) or more years of experience servicing low-voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety, Security, CCTV, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems.
- Certifications (preferred) such as NICET in Fire Alarm, Manufacturer’s Programming Certifications, and FDNY S98 Certificate of Fitness.
- Ability to collaborate with TFP team members and clients, interfacing with Building/Fire Officials and contractors as necessary.
- Strong electrical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Computer fluency in Windows, Excel, and other Microsoft products.
- Valid driver’s license with a driving record meeting company requirements.
- Ability to travel as required by geographic location and be available for emergency on-call services as needed.
