Maintenance Evening Shift
Reports To:
Director of Facilities/Maintenance Coordinator
Qualifications:
Ability to operate maintenance equipment. Depending upon maintenance staff needs, emphasis will be placed on abilities in the areas of electricity, carpentry, plumbing and various mechanical systems. Ability to use good judgment in all school contacts and communications. Black seal license, High School equivalent training Possess a valid motor vehicle license Have a good driving record Experience in plant operation and maintenance;
cleaning methods and procedures; repairs; security; heating and ventilation with in depth knowledge of at least one specialized area of expertise as enumerated under the performance responsibilities Demonstrated knowledge of fire/safety laws and proper handling of hazardous materials Relevant N.J. trade licenses/certificates preferred Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residents alien status
Job Goal:
To maintain all buildings, systems and machinery in good working condition and to keep all school grounds in a neat, clean and safe condition
Performance Responsibilities:
- Electrical:
Performs repairs and adjustments to electrical systems as required. Repairs light fixtures, including ballasts and sockets. Light switches and duplex outlets. Repairs electrical failures, such as overloads and equipment breakdowns. Runs new electrical services from existing power sources for modification of, or additions to, existing school rooms. Uses conduit, BX cable, or wire molding as required. Repairs or replaces any of all electrical components of the buildings or building equipment as required.
Conducts periodic inspections and test of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition. - Mechanical:
Maintains and repairs all buildings and building equipment. This includes all doors, windows, and minor roof repairs, heating and ventilating units, refrigeration units, including drinking fountains. All boiler room components such as oil burners, circulating water pumps and air compressor. Fabricates and installs various metal parts, using various methods of assembling such as oxygen acetylene welding, electric welding or conventional drilling and bolting.
Repairs such mechanical components as panic bolts, door locks, door closers, ventilators, radiators, motor vents, draw curtain hardware, desk drawers and locks, file cabinet drawers and locks. Assist in repair of motor vehicle equipment when required. Assist in repair of maintenance and grounds equipment when required. - Carpentry:
Performs various carpentry tasks such as repairing wood floors, bleachers, furniture, benches, etc. Fabricates platforms, partitions, room dividers, bulletin boards, cabinets, shelves and other items of furniture as required. - Plumbing:
Performs minor repairs as assigned. - Painting:
Prepares surfaces for painting by caulking, cutting out cracks, patching and masking. Performs brush, roller or spray painting. - Other Maintenance Services:
Performs various maintenance services on public address systems, fire alarm systems and vandal alarm systems. Fabricates and installs forms and pours concrete for patching or new construction installations. Performs various construction efforts in keeping with the availability of time, materials and equipment. Assists with snow removal when required
Terms of Employment:
Salary $46,109 - $59,109 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and in accordance with VTEA contract salary guide.
