What you can expect as a Flex Aircraft Maintenance Technician at West Star:Whether you are replacing or repairing parts, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, or performing inspections on some of the most sophisticated civilian aircraft in the world, no day is the same. What is consistent, however, is that each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth.
The main responsibility of the Service Hub Flex Technician will be to support either the TEB (Teterboro, NJ) or HPN (White Plains, NY) Service Hubs, depending on aircraft demand. This position can be based in either TEB or HPN.
You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS, Including- Performing general mechanical tasks on aircraft and related systems
- Removing and installing panels and components
- Troubleshooting and solving issues related to aircraft systems/components
- De-fueling aircraft
- Engine removal and installations
- Operating ground support equipment
- Inspecting and evaluating the aircraft and components
- Moving aircraft and assisting in performance runs/taxing
- Maintaining and repairing the shop facility, equipment, and tooling
- Immediately notify the Lead Mechanic of any problem areas such as parts, materials, workmanship, or airworthiness issues
- Providing the Lead Mechanic with a detailed report on work progression and open items to be included in the shift turnover log
- Properly tagging aircraft components, parts, and panels; ensuring they are appropriately stored, including racks by aircraft
- Possessing basic computer skills to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases
- Being willing and able to work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays, weekends, and days off
- Communicating effectively and clearly (i.e., speaking, writing, reading) in English
What you’ll need to bring with you:
A high school diploma or equivalent and an Airframe and Powerplant License are required.
A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal.

Your Sense Of Responsibility- Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments
- Notify your supervisor in advance of the shift start if you are unable to work
- Have reliable transportation to get to work each day
- Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines
- Follow all company and safety rules during the performance of duties
- Maintain customer-oriented work habits
- Lifts up to 70 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting
- Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands
- Work on elevated platforms (up to 40 ft. in the air) using fall protection safety gear
- Work in small, restricted areas
- Standing for long periods
- Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines
- Troubleshooting or evaluating system operations
- Working with others in a professional manner
- Work under the supervision of the assigned Team Leader and Director of Maintenance
- May be directed to supervise other technicians in some capacity
- Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations, from very cold to very hot
- Work outside during aircraft runs will occur
