Clean Harbors seeks a Lead Mechanic to oversee maintenance and repair of fleet vehicles and environmental service equipment. In this role, you will diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, perform and assign repairs, and ensure all assets meet safety and environmental compliance standards. You will lead a small team, coordinate preventive maintenance schedules, manage parts and work orders, and support emergency response readiness.
This position is key to keeping critical environmental and industrial service operations running safely and reliably.
Responsibilities
- Lead and perform diagnostics, repair, and maintenance on fleet vehicles and environmental service equipment
- Oversee and execute preventive maintenance schedules to maximize safety and equipment uptime
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using diagnostic tools
- Guide and mentor mechanics and technicians, assigning daily tasks and checking quality of work
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, parts usage, inspections, and repairs
- Coordinate with operations to prioritize repairs and ensure equipment readiness for jobs and emergency response
- Monitor inventory of tools and parts, and support vendor coordination for specialized repairs
