Flue Tech Inc. is a premium fireplace, chimney, venting, and specialty construction company serving the Tri-State area since 1999 - more than 27 years. We work on high-end residential and commercial projects throughout New Jersey, New York City, New York, Connecticut, and select projects beyond the region.

We are seeking a reliable, mechanically inclined Fireplace & Chimney Apprentice to join our field team. This is a full-time, year-round, paid hands-on trade-development position with a path to becoming a Field Technician and advancing into higher-level field roles. Direct fireplace or chimney experience is not required; construction or skilled-trade experience is a plus.

What You Will Learn and Do
  • Assist lead technicians and managers with fireplace, chimney, venting, liner, repair, restoration, and installation projects.
  • Set up and protect work areas in occupied residential and commercial environments.
  • Retrieve, organize, load, unload, and maintain tools and materials.
  • Assist with masonry preparation, material handling, installation support, job-site cleanup, and vehicle organization.
  • Learn proper ladder, roof, tool, equipment, and job-site safety procedures.
  • Follow drawings, measurements, manufacturer instructions, and field direction as your skills develop.
  • Help document work with photos, field notes, completion information, and material requirements.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and communicate appropriately with clients, contractors, and Flue Tech team members.
What We Are Looking For
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and willing to learn.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Comfort working outdoors year-round and at heights when properly trained and equipped.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding construction work.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.
  • Team-oriented attitude and professional conduct on premium job sites.
Helpful Background

Construction, masonry, carpentry, roofing, HVAC/mechanical work, sheet metal, plumbing, general labor, or other hands-on trade experience is helpful but not required. OSHA, CSIA, NFI, F.I.R.E., or manufacturer certifications are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

$18.50-$23.00 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated capability. Full-time year-round work with overtime opportunities. Current benefits include health and dental coverage, 401(k), paid vacation, paid holidays, training, and performance-based bonus opportunities subject to company plan terms.

Schedule

Primarily weekday daytime work, with overtime and occasional weekend work as project needs require.
