Summary
Esposito Construction has dozens of major sitework projects underway throughout NJ, and we’re looking for an experienced Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our heavy equipment and truck repair shop. The Shop Manager will be responsible for managing and scheduling shop operations, directing mechanics, overseeing work orders, ordering and maintaining parts inventory, coordinating repairs, and ensuring our fleet is properly maintained and available for operations.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment, excellent organizational and leadership skills, and experience with manufacturer diagnostic programs and computer systems. Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy-duty diesel repair, with prior shop management or supervisory experience preferred.

- Pay: $120,000–$140,000 annually, DOE.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.
- Previous experience managing or supervising mechanics or a heavy-duty repair shop.
- Strong knowledge of Class 8 trucks, heavy equipment, and diesel systems.
- Ability to understand and oversee mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC, drivetrain, brake, and suspension repairs.
- Strong preventative and predictive maintenance experience.
- Experience with manufacturer diagnostic software and computer programs, including Cummins, Mack, Peterbilt, and other heavy-duty truck systems.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize repairs and direct mechanics based on equipment needs and urgency.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and utilize shop management and manufacturer diagnostic programs.
- Ability to manage multiple repairs, work orders, parts needs, and scheduling priorities simultaneously.
- Must prioritize safety in all aspects of shop operations.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- CDL and/or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the truck and equipment repair shop.
- Direct, coordinate, and schedule mechanics and shop activities.
- Assign work to mechanics based on experience, workload, equipment needs, and repair priorities.
- Review repair requests and determine the appropriate priority and course of action.
- Create, review, and manage work orders to ensure repairs are properly documented.
- Monitor the status of repairs and ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and service schedules to minimize fleet downtime.
- Provide direction to mechanics on troubleshooting, repair procedures, and priorities.
- Assist mechanics with difficult diagnostics and repairs when necessary.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Class 8 trucks, including Mack, Kenworth, Peterbilt, and other heavy-duty vehicles.
- Utilize and oversee the use of manufacturer diagnostic software and computer programs, including Cummins, Mack, Peterbilt, and other applicable systems.
- Order parts, shop supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Manage and maintain parts inventory, including monitoring stock levels, conducting inventory counts, identifying needed parts, and placing orders.
- Receive and verify parts deliveries and ensure parts are properly stored and accounted for.
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, repairs, preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, parts usage, and vehicle history.
