Overview
Center for Hope and Safety, located in Bergen County NJ, is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting victims of domestic violence and their children. We believe every person has the right to be safe, empowered and free from violence.
In this part time role working 20 hours per week, you will provide case management and crisis intervention services to survivors of domestic violence and provide clinical and case management advisement to the Community Services Case Management staff. This position is Monday-Friday day shift, but you must be able to work evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the clients.
Responsibilities- Complete psychosocial intake with new clients and work to establish goal plans and monitor goals while managing caseloads in a highly accountable, proactive, organized and empathic manner.
- Provide de-escalation to clients during crisis and on-call phone crisis support if needed.
- Provide coaching and counseling to women on personal growth issues, parenting skills and behavior management of their children. If time permits, run groups on related topics, as necessary.
- Work with clients one-on-one to provide coaching in the areas of independent living/self-sufficiency skills including but not limited to: budgeting, financial planning, shopping, meal planning, personal organization, etc. Assign junior Clinical Case Manager to follow up on assisting the clients with those skills.
- Provide advocacy work as needed, i.e.: housing, legal, police, medical, etc., in correlation with the prescribed goal plan and encourage clients to sign up for services available in the community, such as Housing Authority, Emergency Welfare, etc.
- Provide therapeutic and clinical support via short-term individual and group counseling modalities as assigned
- Accompany clients to court, welfare, apartment search field visits as needed.
- Directly provide support and advisement to case management team.
- Master’s Degree in any Human Services field (i.e. Social Work, Counseling, Psychology) required;
Licensure preferred - Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with domestic violence survivors required
- Minimum two (2) years’ intensive case management and behavioral case work required
- Must have weekly availability in evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of the clients
- Strong communication, organizational and computer skills essential
- Bilingual Spanish a plus
- Valid driver’s license and car necessary
