Social Worker Temporary Leave Replacement

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated social worker for a temporary leave replacement position at William Annin Middle School from September 11, 2026, to January 31, 2027. The ideal candidate will provide support to students facing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, fostering a safe and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and academic success. This role requires collaboration with teachers, parents, and community resources to ensure the well-being and development of each student.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address students' emotional and social needs.
  • Assess students' needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to students in distress.
  • Facilitate communication between students, parents, and educators to promote student success.
  • Organize and lead workshops and seminars on topics such as bullying, mental health awareness, and social skills.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
  • Work with community organizations to connect students and families with additional resources and support services.
  • Participate in school meetings and contribute to the development of school policies related to student welfare.

Requirements:

  • Valid New Jersey social worker license.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged children in a school or community setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of child development, mental health issues, and social services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion.
