Overview
ASRC Federal is seeking a Senior Python Software Developer to join the Remote Monitoring and Logging System (RMLS) team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. RMLS is the FAA’s logging system for recording maintenance work performed on facilities in the National Airspace System (NAS). The candidate will have hands-on Python development experience with messaging brokers to support RMLS applications.
Responsibilities- Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for RMLS.
- Collaborate with agile teams to develop, execute, and maintain software in alignment with FAA requirements.
- Develop, test, and deploy Python applications with a focus on messaging and event-driven architecture; stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices.
- Design and implement messaging workflows using brokers like Rabbit
MQ, Apache Kafka, Active
MQ, or similar technologies, including integration and optimization. - Identify, document, and track defects and issues.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and sprint retrospectives within an Agile team environment.
- Provide feedback on processes, suggesting areas of improvement.
- Assist with RMLS troubleshooting and Help Desk Support.
- Required Skills:
- Proficient in Python, development frameworks, message queuing, pub/sub models, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices, and asynchronous programming.
- Strong attention to detail and initiative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; troubleshoot and isolate defects; communicate effectively.
- Preferred
Skills:- Prior FAA test experience.
- Database development in Oracle/SQL/No
SQL;
Java or Go; monitoring and logging tools for messaging systems. - Experience working on Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban) using JIRA or similar tools.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); CI/CD pipelines and agile methodologies.
- All Non-US degrees must have a US Equivalency Certificate.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or related technical field with specified coursework and experience; or
- Master’s Degree with specified coursework and years of experience; or
- PhD or Doctoral with specified coursework and years of experience.
- Citizenship/Permanent Residency: US Citizen, US Green Card, or eligible visa; US residency requirement; company cannot sponsor at this time.
- Relocation:
Candidate must reside or be willing to relocate within commutable distance to Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
- Full-time position with a standard flexible work schedule and occasional non-standard hours; after-hours installs and support may be needed.
- Occasional travel (less than 5%).
- Cubicle environment.
